Oooh, you need to pick up a copy of "Lake Street Lullabye" by Chainsaw DuPont. And if you're in the Chicago area, check him out. He usually plays at a roadhouse off of I-55 once a week.

For more blues inspired rock, gotta go with the Black Keys album "Thickfreakness"

traditional (chicago) bluesman still around: buddy guy > damn right i got the blues. gritty dirty blues, the best kind.

also, the late john campbell's howlin' mercy. skanky messy swamp blues, including 'when the levee breaks'.
