gen 2 desktop??? or laptop??? i have a generation 3 desktop (they are at 5 now) and the latest 12" powerbook. usually the xps is for gaming, cad, and max. the powerbook is for everything else. i was in the rome for the summer and used cad on the apple just fine with virtual pc. if you are talking about the xps laptop. i would look at other companies who charge less for more. i would get a PC laptop but not Dells.
Bottom line:
what software do you need to run? If you need AutoCAD or Rhino, you can't do it on a mac. otherwise, it's your choice. look up the specs at [url=http
://www.dell.com]dell[/url] and apple and see which will fit your needs best.
if your laptop is for heavy 3d work -heck, any 3d work gets heavy with actual work, right?- you should go with the xps, with the best graphic card upgrade available.
XPS Gen 2 VS. Powerbook
Should I get Dell's XPS Gen 2 or Apple's Powerbook?

Now I feel like a stupid dumb-ass for starting this thread. But whatever, I'm still COOL and kick-ass!
And I'm getting the XPS Gen 2 laptop... I think.
XPS Gen 2 is nice i'd get that.
Right now i'm using a 9300 with a go 6800 pro card. It runs everything very well.
Meaning that you would see even better results with the XPS Gen 2.
i have the desktop nVIDIA 256mb 6800 in my xps gen3. i love it.
i'll i'm saying that it is possible to get lighter, cheaper laptops with the same specs.
I'd seriously recommend looking at Sager's 9880. I got a Sager 4750 and it is the most beautiful PC notebook I have ever seen.

yuck
the XPS gen (like most other dell laptops) looks like poop and yes it weighs what 11 lbs....
oh and yeah
if you want to look good go with the powerbook.
