I'm doing some drawings,3d models for a professor of mine on one of his projects outside of school. He has me running around getting supplies for the model and such.
I'm wondering how should I charge him for car mileage?
Could you guys share how much you charge your firm or client.
Right now gas prices are crazy everywhere in the U.S.
our firm (in Los Angeles) reimbruses us at $0.32 a mile for driving. that covers gas + wear and tear on the car. at my prev. firm i think it was something like 27 cents.
there is a mileage rate established by the federal government for using towards reimbursable expenses. It's updated quarterly. I think it's above 40 cents a mile right now.
If you don't find it, you might do better not to charge for it, then itemize it on your tax forms next year as a non-reimbursed expense.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2004, the standard mileage rates for the use of a car (including vans, pickups, or panel trucks) will be:
* 37.5 cents a mile for all business miles driven, up from 36 cents a mile in 2003;
* 14 cents a mile when computing deductible medical or moving expenses, up from 12 cents a mile in 2003; and
* 14 cents a mile when giving services to a charitable organization.

Charge the Fed's mileage rate PLUS your time. Also, stop off @ a good burger joint (In-N-Out, if you're in Calif).
BTW, fellow ATL-nects FATBURGER lives @ Sidney Marcus & Piedmont. Tho, ya'll, already knew that.
