Any part-time schools for architecture

Jord99

Does anyone know of any part-time school for architecture? I would be interested in both a B.Arch or an M.arch. I know about BAC, and there are few other schools you can work at, but I am talking about going to school part time while working another higher paying full time job (even if takes several years.) It's just that going to arch school for 3-4 more years while already paying back student debt seems like financial suicide. The more I crunch the numbers, the more I realize how much of struggle it will realistically be to not come out over 150K or more in debt. Even State schools are in the range of 12 thousand/year in state plus about 20,000 in other living expenses and not to forget interest accruing on these loans, and old loans.

Morgan State University, in Baltimore. Here's what their website says.

"It offers one of the few accredited architectural degree programs in the United States with afternoon and evening classes and studios."

I also think the Newschool of Architecture in San Diego officers afternoon and evening classes too.

For some reason, I seem to recall that both the San Diego schools offer part-time programs: NewSchool and Woodbury.

Lawrence Tech Uni had/has an online arch degree where you only have to complete the final thesis in person. Might want to check with their accrediation status. I couldn't find it in the NCARB list last time I looked, but I saw it there before?

Thanks for the responses. I am going to contact a few of these schools. I have heard of New School. It seems like they kind of have a bad rep (historically) because they are for-profit. IMO, every school is for profit so I can look beyond that. I have also read some good reviews on New School. Does anyone who attends/has attended have an opinion?

Thanks.

I visited NewSchool this August as a prospect and it had its highs and lows.  I don't know much about their reputation but as far as thew work I saw it wasn't bad.  As I've decided with any program, it's what you make it. Newschool had some projects I saw that were ok and some that were amazing. The facilities were par and you can't beat being in San Diego. I'm still considering it a sort of back-up option if I don't get into Oregon or ASU but it's still an option.
