PUBLICATION

funga

how you guys deal the with publication of work.

Last week , it was the first timee a client ask us to delete something of our website, then the cuestin came to us, how to approach , in my office everyone has a different opinion....

if i can publish or show i feel like the project is 50% waste ,
if new client come and we can not show what we have done, what is the point...

Do you just post in your website or place in the brochure the pictures and floor plan of the project all the time, do you get written authorization from client during contract time or after?

i believe you should get publication rights early on...and
you should definitely get that authorization before you
publish a project in any way...

You should stipulate in your CONTRACT that you have full rights to publish images of the project.

in such a case I would remove the client's name from the images and keep them up. you own your work, they own their house (or whatever). you have every right to use your work to promote yourself. whether that client wants their name publicly attached to it is another matter and conceedable.

i don't think that's totally true...especially with residential
projects...although i could be wrong. i agree that it should
be stipulated in your contract up front...i think most clients
would be amenable sp? to architects taking exterior shots
of their project, interiors may be a different story.

We deal with publication and design ownership in the contract.

develop general terms and conditions, and define the terms of publication rights there.....attach this sheet to every proposal or contract.
