thanks thanks thanks ... the thesis was a urban-design intensive, for my master's in urban planning at UCLA ... it was speculative in nature, and i had to create a series of design recommendations/interventions/strategies for a biotechnology facility right smack in the middle of Pasadena. involves everything from siteplanning, land-use analyses, to industrial and office design.
made my life miserable for a while
but all done ....
(and tyrrhena ... i spent lots of time talking to Caltech scientists during the process)

dana cuff is a 0% joint appointment, and I think there were some problems. Plus, she was on sabbatical fall qtr, so she technically did not qualify to be part of my committe. but nevertheless, she was an invaluable source

Yes, there can be a big difference between committee members and helpful (though unofficial) advisors. Dana is very good.
Also, I trust that this was not PURE drivel :) Maybe just half-drivel?
