...and there is an incredible exhibit at the Met about Christo and Jean-Claude's Gates project for Central Park that includes actual mock-ups, materials, and huge SD and DD drawings.

I am actually takin' a bit of a trip myself this weekend, I have been doing a little digging and have highlighted the following:

- I second the American Folk Art Museum by TWBTA, a must see
The Austrian Cultural Forum is great but hard to get any real look at the interior, besides the galleries on the main and basement levels.

- Hudson Hotel by Philippe Starck

- Eyebeam - Prix Ars Electronica Exhibit - eyebeam.org

- Subway Style: Architecture + Design in the NYC Subway - UBS Gallery

- May 29 - June 19 - Cooper Union - Student Exhibition of Work

that's just a few that i have come across, if you are venturing outside NYC there is Dia:Beacon (80 minutes by train) which I have heard great things about

you should head out to coney island, ride some rides, walk along the beach...screw the architecture crap. stop by l & b spumoni gardens for some dm good sicilian. get ripped in williamsburg, check out some great bands then pass out on some stoop or in a park somewhere.
if you want to check out some architecture, swing by ini ani on stanton street in the les for a cup a joe and then hit a few more bars.

So is it true that there is a recently strongly enforced law that forbids the act of dancing in a bar that has no license for that? It would kill the big apple's night life for sure! Tell me I'm wrong please...

you're right about the existence of the law, but I could tell you a few places where it's not strongly enforced.

and the law's been around for ages. it hasn't killed the nightlife yet.

I've got mention the Futureshack exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt but also put my vote in for the Folk Art Museum.

Theres a drink-fest at Sweet and Vicious tonight @ 7 but I would recommend going to Nevada Smiths and watching Engand vs. France on Sunday morning - that is if you want a killer hangover on Monday.
