Bit torrent

I'll second torrent.

my addiction has lately been fueled by the combination of bit torrent and demonoid.com.

i like direct connect...

bittorrent for "files". torrentspy.com has some good app torrent links.

I generally use soulseek for music files.

i don't use file share stuff anymore because of the amount of hell my computer went through being hacked. there's nothing like somone you've never met messaging you commenting on what you just spoke about with someone else online.

soulseek rocks for tunes.

I have a crappy old PC I use specifically to download files. I never connect to this machine, I just burn discs and transfer files to my other machine.

are these files safe to download?

Check out a program called Peer Guardian. It's supposed to block the IP addresses of the people that are out to get you. I'm not sure how effective it is, but it sounds nice in theory.
