why?
1. they knocked out my beloved chelsea.
2. milan won it just two years ago.
3. it's always more fun (though often more disappointing) to root for the underdog.
I'm neutral actually (negative feeling towards both teams, slightly more negative towards Milan even though I'm half Italian).....
Milan, finishing second in Italian league are already qualified for next year's edition of the champions league. PSV taught them a nice lesson in football, yet they were saved once again with the away goal rule. Liverpool can't finish better than fifth, so the only way they qualify for next edition of CL is if they win tonight.....
no, if you win you are automatically qualified. Makes eliminating the cup holders more fun. Unfortunately, they changed this rule for the world cup (Brazil isn't automatically qualified for Germany 2006). I think that the host nation and the cup holders should qualify for the world cup.
But anyways, all of turkey is siding with Milan, think that will have an effect inside the stadium, or will the cheering/support be more evened out?
I'm taking the afternoon off to watch the game...kick off in 45 minutes. I'm just looking forward to an exciting game...I think it could easily go either way, though Milan definitely have more fire power.
I think it is still up in the air whether or not Liverpool will automatically qualify. Its up to the FA, and they haven't said for sure except that they will be appealing for England to have 5 spots in next years CL if 'pool win.
When you walk through a storm
hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.
everytime I see the reds singing all along that song it gives me the chills.. also the Celtic fans and their chants (or scottish people celebrating Christmas at some Gary Glitter show, lol)...
congrats to Liverpool from a Barcelona fan!! (and thanks for shuting up Mourinho's big mouth at the semis!)
next year we'll meet at the finals... that'd be a great match: Barça-Liverpool..
lol this game turned out somewhat like the Milan VS PSV semi. PSV was just minutes away from victory. They end up losing even though the score was 3-1 in their favor.
We've just witnessed history in the making last night. I'm not a liverpool fan but what i saw then will stay in my memories as one of the greates games of football i've ever watched. I am still in awe. Amazing stuff.

and now, the dilemma, who should represent england next season in the champions league: Everton, who rightfully finished fourth, ahead of liverpool, when the rules clearly state that the top 4 teams go, or Liverpool, who won the cup and common sense wants them to defend it?
Tough one. It doesn't help that both teams are eternal rivals...
Liverpool FC vs AC Milan
just curious who the archinecters are pulling for today in the
champions league final - www.uefa.com
go pool !
Interesting facts:
everytime Milan played with final white kit they won the cup.....
everytime the opponent of Liverpool wore white in the final Liverpool won......
last time Liverpool won, the pope died that same year.......
after tonight, atleast one of these three wierd facts will no longer be true!
Go the Pool - many beers tonight regardless.
Milan did so very bad against PSV so probably they have some idea now how to handle speedsters. Milan will win. Penalty shootout. Gerrard miss.
gonna have to go with the brits on this one
go reds.

hopefully it won't have to go to penalties.
I thought that qualifying thing was up for debate even if they win?

Does anyone know how to hear the game in the states on internet radio? bbc.co.uk never plays games outside of the UK....
listen to that crowd on bbc webcast - hope the game is all out!
didn't see your post darkred - wasn't being a jerk...they have pregame on the bbc but not sure if it will stay on during the game.
check socceraudio.com
Thanks rayray - no offense taken.
I've also got the pregame via uefa.com - we'll have to wait and see if the game comes through....
in desperation I listened to the ac milan broadcast once, in italian, it was better than nothing and could actually follow the match after a bit
a couple of mins untill kick off. Beers chillin, TV warmed. They have just said that there is no guarantee of defending the cup should they win.

Since 20 years just 1 word to say:
LIVERPOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!
As a PSV fan I am soooooooooooooooo glad Liverpool won after this grandiose match, with a clown Dudek blocking 2 penaltys and 1 miss.
What a match!
I'm still crying, since PSV deserved Milan's spot in the final...
^^ as the saying goes what goes around comes around. I guess it was payday for Milan :D

so the white shirt theory survives.........and so does the pope-death theory..........both worked out for Liverpool quite well.
what a game, all finals should be like this one!

I was wrong. Best final in history. Congrats to the reds
Feel great that an English side won, super reds! Maybe the magpies next time.. *sigh*.. i guess not, we didn't even qualify.
excuse my ignorance.. but who are the magpies?
Newcastle Utd
