Does anyone know anything about this festival that is taking place in Santa Monica August 12th. I checked out the website but found it strange that there was no mentioning of ticket prices or hotel accommodations. I'd appreciate any info on this event.
CA BOOM: FESTIVAL OF CONTEMPORARY DESIGN
BRINGS CALIFORNIA DESIGN COMMUNITY TOGETHER
First Annual Trade Fair and Festival of California Design in Santa Monica, August 13-15, 2004
WHAT: CA Boom: A Festival of Contemporary Design is a three day festival at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, Santa Monica, California that will showcase the best in contemporary design has to offer. Celebrating the excitement, accessibility, and affordability of good design and showcasing the eclectic mix of artists who comprise the California architecture, landscape, and interior design communities, CA Boom will bring design to the public in an interactive environment that entertains consumers as it showcases the professionals.
CA Boom will function as a trade fair and festival of design. CA Boom will offer trade reps the opportunity to discover new contract and wholesale resources while providing a marketplace to discerning consumers of contemporary design. Attendees will be able to meet and mingle with furniture manufacturers, designers, architects, and interior designers; participate in conference sessions with trendsetting speakers; and take off-stie private guided tours of some recently completed or rarely-before-seen Southern California architectural and design projects – many given by the actual project architects.
WHY: A key motivating factor of CA Boom is to help build community with dynamic interaction. Bringing together design professionals and the public in the spirit of discovery, CA Boom takes design outside the showroom and demystifies it for a discerning and savvy consumer.
Speakers: Presentations by design community leaders are a highlight of CA Boom. These will include panel discussions by design teams and clients about noteworthy projects.
