A friend of mine wants to apply to graduate school for architecture, but is unsure of how to build up a portfolio. For me, portfolio building came easily, I came from an art school and graduated with a BFA in architecture. I'm curious, for her sake, how people coming from different backgrounds approached the application process, particularly the portfolio.
I submitted writing samples and a phat essay! I also had a chance to tour the school I knew I was interested in and meet with the director. I'm sure that didn't hurt. Before I submitted anything, I prayed.

Are you serious?

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that.
