Koolhaas, Gehry, and other starchitects I'm tired of hearing about

WonderK

Ok, not that starchitects don't provide a valuable service to our profession, what with the low-paying jobs, over-budget projects, glossy magazine photos and that.....

But if you read the homepage news thread you'd think that's all we're about.

How about some shout-outs today to local architects who design solid projects that the rest of us never hear about. Please list projects, names, locations, and web sites if applicable. Here, I'll start:

Terry Brown, professor at my alma mater, UC. His home on Erie Avenue in Hyde Park looks like something out of a Tolkien book. Sorry, I don't have pictures.

OK, now you go.

Adjunct Prof. at U. of Oregon
One of the few profs at the school that actually practice! Also a reputed Tolkien fan.

I haven't seen his work in person, but Marlon Blackwell seems to do some of the coolest stuff around given what I have seen on his website. He is in Arkansas and teaches at the U of Arkansas.

Yes, Terry Brown's house is great - I think it's called the Mushroom House. Here's a pic:
