has some good free fonts, although most of the stuff you have to pay for. Not sure if you'd call any of them 'edgy', but they are of very high quality...
Pencrush: there was just a nice piece in HOW magazine about Eduardo Recife of Misprinted Type. Part of a focus on Brazillian (I believe) graphic designers. Worth checking out.
there are separate "issues" that have a free font section in them (most of them) but you have to look through them. It's funny, the site hasn't been updated in years but it's still there, and there are some good grungy fonts on there.. I'm assuming that's what you mean by edgy.
It's unlikely you're going to find helvetica for free online, maybe on some p2p networks. You can buy it from Adobe, or any other reputable typeface seller..
@pixelwhore: Was that in the latest issue? I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip.
HEY GUYS, i AM PROBABLY THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO DOES KNOW HOW THE FREE DOWNLOAD FONTS WORK? PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO GET IT INTO MICROSOFT WORD, OR ANY OTHER PROGRAMS THAT WOULD WORK. tHANKS
KKKK, download fonts, unzip them and place them in a folder in your C drive. Then go to Settings, Control Panel, then Fonts. In this window, there is an install new font command in the file menu. Then follow the instructions. The newly installed fonjts will appear in any program that uses them, ie word, excel, photoshop etc.
Medit - Typophile should be able to tell you the name of the font and answer any other questions you might have. These guys really know what they are talking about.
helvetica is a really interesting film. i love that they interview the haters as well. too many documentaries dwell on the pros... the cons, not so much.

so as many of you probably already know, there is a documentary on the Helvetica font...i watched it last week and really enjoyed it
I then watched a documentary on Miami's Coccaine Cowboys which I liked even more
