AutoCAD help: designating permanent drawing order

algonquin

does anyone know if it's possible to assign a permanent drawing order to objects? It would be handy for solid hatching. I find that I'm constantly correcting the draw order so that solid hatches don't obliterate linework.. right now I do the hatching in a seperate drawing, with the real drawing externally referenced for presentations.

thanks in advance

this may not be the best current way but i have a custom button with this macro that i first created in ACAD 13 and now use in ADD 3.3

first, you lock the hatch layers. then run this from a button or manually:

^C^C_COPY;all;;@;@;ERASE;P;;REDRAW;

bascially copies everything you selected , ALL, (not the locked hatch layers) right back in it's current location but on top then erases your previous selection set (the sutff that was "under" the hatch)
