Windows XP

Has anyone ever had a problem loading their old acad 2000 into a brand new version of XP? It works fine on our xp upgrades but a new version out of the box. Any ideas?

This is straight from dell, so sp2 should be already in it. I cant even get it to install. Says doesnt support OS.

Theres a fix for "uninstall" by using the control panel, but no "install". The fun continues....

Well this is the way I understood it when I went through this last year....

AutoCad 2000 wasn't meant to run on XP, so when you were upgrading your computers to XP, you might have gotten an error message about "this program cannot run on this platform, would you like Windows to create a fix, blah blah blah...." So if 2000 is already there and you're just upgrading Windows, it will find a way to make it work.

HOWEVER.....if you have a clean version of XP with no AutoCad, you will only be able to install AutoCad 2002 or later. I skipped the middle man and went straight to 2005 and had no problems.

Make sense? It sucks but yeah.

?

I've installed ACad2000 on two brand new machines running XP in the past year or so with no problems.

Maybe I'm having problems I don't know about?

Hmmm.

Well that's magical. I'm just speaking from experience, and all of my friends had similar experiences, so I don't know.

my experience with xp and 2000 was nothing to do with xp but it was because i had a very high quality video card on my dell. thought originally the same warning that it was not compatible[thought this for 6 months] but after going to acad discussion board, queried it and realized it was the video card problem; just had to turn the quality down on the bugger. my laptop is a dell.

if when you install it your cross hairs assume to go bonkers and just duplicate themselves as you move them, its the same problem.

now i just did my sp2 upgrade on sunday [not this machine but my other machine]. havent tried acad yet but will report any problems when i get back to try it.

sp2 is the bitch...believe it or not

do what i would do - run a google search!

Ya - 2002 works fine but dont have licenses for all, so some need 2000. Has anyone used the program compatability wizard in windows under accesories? Lets find out....
