Charlottesville, VA!

OK, here's the short version. Myself and a co-worker (posts as jaspyt) somehow convinved our architecturally-conservative firm to enter the Urban Habitats competition. The firm is paying for us to go to the site tour this upcoming weekend. We're coming into town sometime Friday afternoon and will be returning to the bitter north on Saturday evening, which gives us a night to experience the local bars and see whats going on.

Where should we go? What should we see? Is anyone else going on the tour and want to meet up? We'd like to skip the more college-type bars and would prefer the more pub-ish, out-of-the-way with good beer kind of places. Any and all recommendations are appreciated!

it's a pedestrian street full of bars and restruants and other types of entertainment...the undergrads generally stick to "the corner" which is adjacent to campus.

Def. go to the downtown mall. If it's nice Friday or Sat. night, there will be tons of locals out getting drunk as the sun goes down. Check out Blue Light Grille, Hamiltons, The Bitter End, Rapture. Don't go to the Corner, it's full of frat rock.
