I didn't ask for much help when I went bankrupt, maybe it is an architect thing
Our profession greatly emerged in the 19th century, but we were never able to monopolize it the way doctors and lawyers did for their fields. So we have handed out what we do to engineers, consultants, etc. Sometimes it's ok to avoid the help
I followed your advice. At this point in time, I am sitting in a jail cell in Mexico, typing on a phone that I smuggled in a convenient orifice. As pertaining to your instructions, I had a particularly free night in which I engaged in anything, with anything being defined as:
- lewd public acts
- defamation of character
- swearing in a kindergarten
- defecating on the mayor's car, and
- referring to the police officer, during my subsequent arrest, as the offspring of a dog of the female persuasion.
Despite citing you as an authority, the magistrate was unimpressed. In fact, her face turned an alarming shade of purple, and I am to stay in this cell until some sort of vague farming event ( something about cows returning to their homes).
You can do anything
yes you can, you are free
finally! thanks, lou.
by the way - i've never met you, but i consider you a mentor... that ok or is it too presumptuous of me?
anything you can do, I can do better.
Aw hell, shuellmi stole my line ;-) Clearly s/he CAN do it better than me!
LB..faster is not necessarily better.
i always wanted to play center for the 76ers
but i couldn't do it, no matter how much i wanted :(
you dont have to want it, you just gotta do it!
Lou, you're kinda going downhill. Remember when you said these things:
“A great building must begin with the unmeasurable, must go through measurable means when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable.”
“Consider the momentous event in architecture when the wall parted and the column became.”
“Architecture is the reaching out for the truth.”
I'm not sure, "You can do anything," measures up.
light and metricality are the thread linking the arts, science and philosophy in the great synthesis of architecture
I know I *can* do it, but I *hate* doing it - I HATE asking people for help! Do you suppose that's common among architects?

I can do anything, but I won't do that.
Dear Louis,
I followed your advice. At this point in time, I am sitting in a jail cell in Mexico, typing on a phone that I smuggled in a convenient orifice. As pertaining to your instructions, I had a particularly free night in which I engaged in anything, with anything being defined as:
- lewd public acts

Please come and post bail. Ok?
"you can do anything!"
