don't know anything about dj equipment specifically, but i would be really surprised if technics didn't have info on a website...just like ge has for refrigerators. most companies now have links to .pdf specs.
Make sure the desk is at least waist height or above to save sore backs (some of our guest dj's have had to have back operations directly attributable to leaning over decks)
Leave room for laptops and live equipment (1m square ?)
Space for CD decks.
Space for monitors if necessary.
Leave room for drinkies so they don't get spilt on important areas.
A space for record bags would also be handy to save bending down to get them out of bags
I've designed at few...built um too. Signum hit the nail on the head. The big worry is always if this will be a one off specifically for the intended equipment or able to handle a multitude of stuff. Also important is if it mobile...you'd be suprised how this changes things...the difference in using 3/4" ply or thinner reinforce veneers

DJ Booth Design
I am designing a DJ booth on a tight schedule and was wondering:
1. does anyone have technical drawings for the technics 1200 turntable or similar
2. know a good resource for dj equipment specs in general

Asked some DJ friends, the response:
Techics deck - Total Dimensions: 21Hx16-1/2Wx8-1/2D". Weight: 10 lbs.
Pioneer DJM 600 - Total Dimensions (W x H x D): 320 x 107 x 357.4 mm.
Net Weight: 5.9 kg.
