I need a new computer. Last week I tried to render a scene with relatively complex light/shadow in 3DS Max at 5100 x 3300 x 300 dpi. I hit render and fell asleep. When I awoke 6 hours later, it was ¼ of the way done.
Anyhow. Does any one have a laptop (PC) that they are satisfied enough with to recommend. I am more interested in building my own (although if anyone has an off-the-shelf that they would recommend, I will listen), but the specifics of what I would need is currently beyond my scope of knowledge. I have a Mac that I am happy with, but I am still reliant on a PC, as most of my software is PC-based, or at least that is the version that I have.
If anyone can offer specs/models/processors/video cards etc. that they use and work well in the 3D environment, I would be appreciative.
