The "convert" option will not convert "protected files" that have already been imported as mpeg4 files. Is there a free shareware that will convert the files to wav or mp3?
Burn your protected mp3 files to a CD in the audiio (wav) format. Then reimport them as mp3s. The protected file format will be gone, and a happy little mp3 will remain. It sucks that you have to use discs up, but its a simple and easy way to overide apples proteced file format.
There was an open source project at point called HYMN (I think) that purported to accomplish this task. They made the news last year because they moved to an Indian server to avoid prosecution under the digital millenium act.
