Any thoughts on how to add glass panels to painted metal railings? I think I can glue a screw clamp to a painted surface. Hoping there is a better solution. Wondering if anyone has any insights or experience with this. taaanks
No and No. Glue and screw.

Refer to IBC 2407 and and 1607.8.
System needs to be sufficient to meet those requirements, as a minimum.
Any connection must be mechanical or by welding the support piece (no "glue" whatever that means)
As they mention above, CRL has some nice glass clamps but feel free to browse, there are many mfg's
