I'm trying to make stencils on AutoCAD and then laser cut the pieces out. I used the type tool and the Lasercamm did not recognize the type as part of the drawing. I'm wondering if there is a way I can turn the type into an regular lines in the autocad file.

Laser cutters dont like certain fonts (true types & raster if I recall correctly).
Explode the font to lines and arcs. Problem solved. //
There's a free LISP rutine for that.
or run it through illustrator to convert to outline first
how exactly do you use illustrator to do it?
matt22,
Create a text in illustrator, then go to 'type' menu on top to find 'Create Outlines' tool.
you can also use a keyboard short cut 'Shift+Control+O'
Thanks for the help
@ proto
No need for additional tools, when exported to autocad format all text is already exploded to simple lines.
