tried it on the old version of vpc and it started but then gave up very early on. i think it was something to do with the memory- which can probably be sorted out, but i went back to form z in classic instead.
My understanding of vpc is that it emulates a graphics card, and doesn't actually use the power of the hardware card. That alone would prevent me from using it. Use Maya.
BOA runs very well in Classic and can accomplish most 3-d architectural tasks and make working drawings at the same time. If you're modelling, Form Z offers a lot more in terms of solids and accuracy that 3D Studio.

the latest version should use the hardware (ref to jitter's post), but still its very slow, wouldn't suggest it.
