3-Form's sheet product will is the less expensive option.

yes, you can add color to resin. yes, you can make resin treads for your stairs. that's what you want to do correct? fiberglass is the biggest issue (strength at connection to stinger). use over time is an issue also. maybe the idea of time/use/wear could be considered towards the thinking for your project.

There's also e-panelite. Resin with metal tubes or resin honeycomb structure on the inside. You can also get insulated glass panels. It's pretty cool stuff. I don't know how well it would hold up, but if it's a studio project, I guess it doesn't really matter. It's also pretty expensive, but it looks cool.

Koolhaas used it in the IIT project.

Lot-ek did a loft apartment where they used metal grate infused with resin for a smooth-surfaced walkway. Very cool.

Toshiko Mori did a _beautiful_ molded stair which was (I think) resin over fiberglass for a house in Florida-- might want to check it out
