@shendon7 what you are saying ia not entirely true as while i was applying at harvard, mit, yale and berkeley they asked me during the application process how much money could i pay. They asked it either by calling it financial aid application, or by making me check a box called need based scholarship. Yale more specifically even asked me if i have servants, or jewellery. They also asked me about the car my family owns and finally a very nice bank letter. And all these in order to be considered for a need based scholarship! So by applying for financial aid you present your full financial state. At least if you are an international applicant
@C. Watts yeah, it's kinda true. I didn't mean that I'm a master in English. I mean that $7500 for Summer English course is just unresaonable. Anyway, this is such a long wait for Yale and MIT. I didn't get any update from MIT tho. No acceptance or rejection mail... and no waiting list. Does anyone have the same situation with MIT?
I applied to GSD so I remember quite well but I had no idea Yale was so explicit! For Harvard I left most the specific questions blank but did check the aid consideration.
you should stop spreading misinformation under the guise of being helpful. most universities make need-blind admissions decisions, and most commit to maintaining levels of financial aid given in the first year.
since you're so content throwing around anecdotal evidence, ill present some of my own:
my two brothers, my sister, and I went to Yale, Dartmouth, Colby and Whitman, respectively. No one saw aid decreases for undergrad. My sisters aid didn't decrease at Yale Architecture for her masters, neither brother had their aid decrease for their masters programs in public health, and in finance. My aid remained the same at whitman, and Harvard specifically mentions in their financial aid material that merit aid remains the same for the duration of the degree program, and need based aid does too (assuming need doesn't change).
anyway, its clear your bitter about something and are disguising that as advice.
Congrats Shanerr! Seems you have some really interesting choices on the table here. I would subtitute all my acceptances for an acceptance from MIT. But still waiting
Hey! Sorry to go a little off topic here, but I needed suggestions with something. My friend got into the Domus Academy at Milan for M.Arch + Urban vision. He's heard great things about the school and program and so have I. But he's torn between going there and waiting for Pratt/Parsons in the US as well as other colleges such as UCL and Liverpool. If any of you have friends there or can help him make a choice, please advise. Thanks!
I know a couple of people that have studied at domus. Really good school. I would not go to liverpool, although i hear they have a decent program. UCL is the real dilemma here. Which program did he apply to?
At Liverpool he applied for MA Architecture and at UCL for the one year M.Arch. Did your friends graduate from the same program as the one he's applied to at Domus?
Hi all, I have been officially accepted to VA Tech. I didn't get an e-mail yet and no fin aid info and my application did not update, BUT if you log in to the guest account website and click on Fall 2016, it says:
Application Status:Decision Made
Decision:Acceptance You will be receiving an official confirmation via letter from the Graduate School thru postal mail in the near future.
Now if only the rest of the decisions will hurry up and get released!!!
@harini all the people i am mentioning in the previous post graduated from my university. I would probably choose ucl cauz of the prestige of the school. But domus is a really good choise and italy is magnificent
Haven't heard anything yet either way from Rice, Penn, Michigan, and Berkeley. Anyone else still in the same boat? It's unnerving not knowing what my options could be.
Hey, Anyone received decision about Pratt ?? Even I want to know how good pratt for Post-Professional MS degree in Architecture in all aspects from ranking, program and overall experience in the institute.
Also, anyone heard about the funding or scholarship received by an International student in Pratt?
I am confused as of now I have received only SUNY Buffalo with a mere scholarship.
@nonneutral, congrats on Michigan. On gradcafe a few people posted acceptances from Rice. but they all seem to be informal emails. I logged into my application and there is no decision posted there. I am also dying to know their decisions. Has anybody heard from them?
FYI, typically from Rice's previous trends on gradcafe, seems like they send out acceptances first, usually all in a day or two and then the next week they send out rejects.
Anyone have any idea when M-Arch I decisions for Yale and GSAPP are coming out? Really anxious over here, would love to just know whether or not it's worth refreshing my email every ten minutes. Good luck to everyone!
@geometric_oddity I received a response from Yale saying that their decision letters will be sent out in couple of weeks. So... I guess maybe at the end of March? Idk....
@nonneutral Sorry to hear that. Did you apply for M.Arch I?
Also some rejections came out. Looking at gradcafe seems like the send rejections out first and acceptances (but possibly also rejections?) on fridays.
Rejected by Berkeley, but was kind of hoping for that anyways because I didn't want to have to choose between that and UCLA. I've actually never heard anything good about their architecture program (unless it's on archinect). Even my boss who graduated from there said they had fallen behind. And the old dean at my college (Michael Speaks) said that he could spot a Berkeley portfolio from a mile away and would never let them into the UK grad program... >.> ouch. Still stings though! Congrats to all the folks who got acceptances today.
In at Berkeley! Feel excited about the program (and what I have heard about it being theoretical) and about the possibility of moving to SF, although I am also still trying to find out more information about the school since it seems to be discussed less often than some of the other schools here.
Hi @jungin_seo , I mentioned the cap. There was a financial aid representative at the GSD M.Arch open house this past November who stated that there was a hard cap on financial aid of 20-something thousand a year. I believe it was $24,maybe $27K, I don't recall the exact amount but it was definitely in the 20s. Did anyone else hear this at the open house or can corroborate this information?
2016 M.Arch in the US: Applicants -Admissions prep post here!

I'm still waiting to hear from MIT as well as Yale & Princeton.
@RazanALT Are you international student?
Same here with MIT and Yale
Me toooo...:(
@international_applicant
I applied to GSD so I remember quite well but I had no idea Yale was so explicit! For Harvard I left most the specific questions blank but did check the aid consideration.
anyone else going to MSAAD?
I might if I can get off of the waitlist.
Just got a phone call from Monica Ponce de Leon - brace yourselves for a phone call from Princeton!
OMG! Congrats @Shanerr !!
@asdmin , nope I'm American.
@DeTwan

Ah okay :) thank you @international_applicant....I'll pass on your comments to my friend. Congratulations, @RazanAlt! :) hope the good news continues!

Rest of the Universities still on Good Hopes !!
Thanks.
Just heard that I got in to Michigan this afternoon!
Congrats nonneutral !

Can somebody confirm my madness?
@nonneutral I'm also waiting for Penn and Berkeley. I head from Michigan and Cincinnati almost two weeks ago. The suspense is killing me!
Anyone have any idea when M-Arch I decisions for Yale and GSAPP are coming out? Really anxious over here, would love to just know whether or not it's worth refreshing my email every ten minutes. Good luck to everyone!
@geometric_oddity I think GSAPP decisions will come out Friday. It seems like they always send them out the second friday of March.
Also Berkeley should be out any minute according to gradcafe.
@geometric_oddity I received a response from Yale saying that their decision letters will be sent out in couple of weeks. So... I guess maybe at the end of March? Idk....
@RazanALT, @pv1988: Thanks!
It sounds like some decisions from GSAPP have already come out. Including mine ... I was waitlisted on Monday.
@nonneutral Sorry to hear that. Did you apply for M.Arch I?
Also some rejections came out. Looking at gradcafe seems like the send rejections out first and acceptances (but possibly also rejections?) on fridays.
I just received an acceptance from UTSOA M.Arch II Architectural Design. Couldn't be more psyched! Congrats to all who got accepted!
Woooooo accepted to Berkeley!!!
Congratulations to all of you :) @nonneutral I hope you get off the wait list and accepted soon!
@archigrad21 congrats! Which program?
@international_applicant I was accepted to the two year Master of Architecture! Were you accepted too?
What a shitty day.. Rejected by Berkeley and Cornell :( Still hopeful for UPenn though!
@Archigrad21 I was accepted at Studio One. They sent me the unofficial email today, but I knew it since early february through an interview I did
A rejection from Cornell too. Sadness
Also rejected by Cornell. Oh well, a couple more to go.
Also rejected by cornell....
Rejected by Berkeley, but was kind of hoping for that anyways because I didn't want to have to choose between that and UCLA. @Harini : thanks for your thoughts!
Does anyone know if GSD M.Arch provide a full tuition scholarship or if there is a maximum cap ($24k, as mentioned above somewhere..)
Hi @jungin_seo , I mentioned the cap. There was a financial aid representative at the GSD M.Arch open house this past November who stated that there was a hard cap on financial aid of 20-something thousand a year. AP with aids to GSAPP.
Nothing from MIT. Going to make a call to negotiate with the head for full ride.
Going all out.
Did you just hear from GSAPP @dashingnerd?
@rengrsl last week. MArch1 through early notice of my AP which is rare for GSAPP
Just received unofficial admission to Berkeley. Does anyone know about the financial aid situation is for (poor) international students there?
omg. In at GSAPP! Hope everyone has great news today!
IN AT GSAPP TOO!!!
