this poor sap is putting his architectural degrees up for sale on ebay for $72,000 (to cover his school loans). its a pretty sad story that alot us are afraid to have happen to us. it's not like architects are doctors, making over 6 digits a year.... anyway, here's the link:

His story is sad and i can certainly understand his frustration.
But i think he made quite a few mistakes (besides his choice of major). He could have applied for a finanical hardship deferment, or taken a job somewhere other than upstate NY.

it's not the professions fault that he went to an extremely expensive private school and, by the looks of it, financed practically the entire thing.
this is just whiny - no where near as good as the guy selling his ex-wifes wedding dress, or the guy selling the air-guitar. now that stuff was funny.
Think about it. At 36 he has a debt load of 74k. If interest was frozen today and he was able to make $500 per month payments he is still looking at better than 12 years to be rid of that debt! He will be 48!
Look at it like paying a mortgage (which assumes he can’t afford to also pay a real mortgage so no house...) and say it is $1200 per month he could have it done in a little over 5 years so by 41 he could be debt free.
It does suck to have that kind of debt but I would hope with the RPI degree he has enough brains to get himself into a decent paying job. 50-60k at 12 years out of school is not that hard to come by at all and would make paying off at $1200 per month not too bad.
this would be funny if the guy had just got out of school, but it was 11 years ago. the dude has to be making decent money by now. jusst shut up and pay off you loans dip shit.
What is sad is that those with a good degree don't make more than those with a mediocre one. Also, those with a 5 year degree and no masters make the same as those with a masters. Sure you'll get a tad more respect for the masters, but it won't help, not anywhere I've worked. All I saw was those with the 5 year degree ahead of those with a masters because they've worked longer.
I feel for the guy. If I am 11 years out of school and have not paid off my debt, I can't imagine I'll be smilin'.
misfortune (and bad luck and joblessness) can strike anyone, so please be a bit understanding.
on the other hand, i think this guy is a bit idealist - come on - his writing suggests it - i can imagine this guy in an office using his extra-sharp drafting pencils with a parallel bar, just because he 'dont do computers' - for an example
dude if you find you cannot pay 500$ per month, then seriously, first work at paying it back and then do your idealist crap
