anyone see a kick ass stair volume recently? i am looking for a few ideas on a really clean and simple stair. i have been playing around with treads that pierce through the wall, folded steel tread and risers, etc. my client is up for anything, and i just wanted to know if there is anything out there that caught your eye?
I actually saw a pretty clean design on This Old House recently. Made entirely of 5/4 poplar, the stringers were routed to receive the tread and riser intead of cutting the stringer in the standard "sawtooth". Once finished, the underside of the stair looked just as nice as the top. Simple and clean, but looked pretty labor intensive. Kinda traditional, but I liked it.
