Any thoughts on what this could be? Alternatively, what type of gift (besides straight cash) would you have liked to receive?

Get her a women's leather briefcase or maybe a handmade wooden jewelry box from someplace like "Appalachianspring.com".

Why does it have to be architecturally related? Why not something fun or unrelated? Maybe a vacation away from the life she's about to embark in?
