Hey everyone, interested to hear people's take on inner city redevelopment in much of the midwest, including my hometown of Indianapolis. As architects, most of us are deeply committed to this type of development, specifically developing empty lots in the inner city. This, however, can often be a challenging process to convince the general public of the merits of this type of lifestyle.
In Indianapolis, a lot of these types of developments that do happen leave me wanting more, in terms of design. How about in other cities around the midwest?
I have, however, finally had the chance to co-design a house in an urban neighborhood in the city and hope to push for more innovative designs that still address the issues of affordability. I've started a blog documenting the design and construction. Anyway, feel free to check it out: http://urbanhomeindy.wordpress.com
