Thoughts on your current state in the realm of application time? Feel good about it, wish you had more time? I've got the portfolio to where I want it, freakin out about the essay a little but I talked to Princeton's admission councelor and they said don't sweat, just show us you can right and why you want to come here. I think I've tried to make it more monumental then it needs to be.
Wrapping up portfolio tonight. Personal statement half way done. Still have to print, bind, and run into major problems but hope to have everything out Thurs./Fri.
"I want it, freakin out about the essay a little but I talked to Princeton's admission councelor and they said don't sweat, just show us you can right and why you want to come here"
Yeah, same professors who were upset at students for not finishing work on time are the same ones who recieved my request three+ months ago.... still nothing returned.
just printing to do now. but its always remarkable how much can go wrong with printing. and though my generic essay is done, i still have to personalize it for schools. its too bad some have 1000 words and some only 500... i hate to chop this thing in half.
looks like i'll be getting to know the people at fex-ex over the next week and a half.
Heh, I finished it all up last week after spending my life in a void for 3 months working on it while holding onto a job. It's tough but it's a great feeling once it's done. I spent way more than I expected on printing, binding, and mailing. Good luck to you all.
i just fedexed my first one out today too. this process has been so long, expensive and stressful. i've also become totally paranoid. eventhough i have checked everything a millions times, i am convinced that somehow i will misspell or forget to include one of the forms.
i am sure everyone else is crazy and fedup at this point too.
for m.arch. I i heard princeton's acceptance rate is 9%. i heard harvard's is 20%. yale's between 10%-20%. rice i've heard figures between just 5% and 20%. berkeley 24%. upenn i've heard is higher but it sounds like its getting mroe competitive. ucla i don't know. anyone else?
i'm not extremely confident about any of these except maybe berkeley which is my lowest choice. who knows? there's so much luck involved it seems, and also if you happen to know distinguished alumni, which is stupid and frustrating (since i don't for most). best to save yourself some stress and not even worry about it til march.
The toughest part if having no idea what level of school I can get into. I have applied to princeton and MIT but I dont even know if I can get into Minnesota. Also, anyone know if recommendation from employers help at all? Also what affect does work experience have on your prospects?
Still printing and editing as well (and wrapping gifts in between). I know, I'm running out of time quickly. I've been out of school almost 2 years now, and have not put a portfolio/presentation together since finishing my last desing in the fall of 02. I had forgotten how stressful and time cosuming this is.
From what I have read, schools state that if someone has been out of school for several years then they may use employers instead of professors for the letters.
how strict do you thinnk the 1000 word essay is. The one I have that is complete is 784 (1 page). Dont feel like adding more BS and Ive addressed all questions.
I really have no idea what my chances are. I had good grades, 3.8, spent the past six months putting together a portfolio, I guess I am most confident about SciARC, and least with Princeton.
My preference:
1_ UCLA
2_ Princeton
3_ Penn
4_ SciARC
5_ Columbia

Number two out the door... the stress is gone, I've done what I needed to do, not in my hands anymore....
To anyone, where are you most confident about gaining acceptance / least confident?
Any interesting admission/acceptance facts? Does Princeton really only accept 9 students for MArch 1?

What is your first choice?
Still printing....
naturally, the toughest one to get into, princeton.

My top 3 are:
Cornell
Penn
Yale
All longshots. And one or two more state schools.

3:30am still printing, It is looking pretty grim. Harvard's app may be a little late. I hope that they will still except it a day late.
If you call Yale and ask for acceptance rates, they say roughly 25%, which is better for and all of us
