Best program to add textures to Drawings(such as elevations)

piero1910

I am just wondering if I should use Photoshop or illustrator to put textures to my elevations. Both of them have their pros and cons. I like illustrator because I can manipulate more the lines of the drawings from CAD. Something that I cannot do in photoshop so well. Here is an example of the kind of drawing that I am referring to.

I tried to look for tutorials online but I did not have too much lucky finding them. So I would like to know if you can help with. thanks.

You could technically use both with exporting and linking, but that is needless here.

For something like your example you should just create a mask for the texture in Illustrator and place it on a layer behind the line-work.

With that much line-work you should always be finishing from a vector software.

You can compose everything in PS, than export it to AI, work on lines and vice versa till you finish the work.

psst....

you can make these without ever leaving autocad....except for whatever pixel manipulation you might want to try on your backgrnd images....
