Hi I'm trying to learn the name of a decorative stone that old railroad era building owners would place on their buildings. Typically the stone would be on or near the parapet wall, and display the owner's name, toe date of construction, or both.
Anyone know what this stone was properly called?
I have incluced an illustrative image.
Thanks!
it's either called: signage band or building skirt
