How to extract sections, plans, and make2Ds from a 3ds Max model?

mark lower

i am a rhino user that just figured how to model using polys... but how do i get drawings from the model?

in rhino i can get vector drawings (plans, sections, make2ds) and import them to illustrator to adjust the line weights...

can i do this in Max as well... or do Max users use another workflow?

Use Revit!

Just import it and set up some views...

There is a 'slice' modifier that will cut geometry. I don't know if that will get you a vector drawing, but you can probably do something with a bitmap and photoshop.

goto Command Panel/Create/Shapes/Section

the Section like slice will cut a yellow line through the object, once you have it located with Section selected goto Modify Tab and click on "Create Shape"
