Revit to 3ds Max Work flow

mark lower

is it better to create the site (i.e. trees, topology... maybe other buildings) and add furniture in Revit or 3ds Max?

what about cameras, lights, and the sun?

I know that you can render in Revit... but i never had any experience... how does it compare with mental ray for 3ds max?

in your experience... which work flow brought you the highest quality results? the elements i mentioned above could be added in either Revit or 3ds Max... but what is usually the better way to go?

p.s, i understand that Revit's families are very "standard" and you could probably make much more unique trees and furniture in 3ds max.... but what if i did not care about selection but only visuals... as in how "clean" the model is and not how complex it is... no tears in the meshes or irregularities in geometry... i just want plain but convincing site and furniture that will render well

i hope that i am not confusing anyone... but i must also add...

in terms of furniture, trees, and anything along those lines... i am asking for which program provides better "standard" models...

obviously it depends on the modeler when it comes to modeling furniture in 3ds max... but what about the ones provided by the software? and which program is better suited for creating a site?

I always model in Revit then export to .fbx, this way the MAX version is accurate to the Revit version - It keeps things more consistant. - most of the time, I am doing renders in Revit anyway, and use MAX for a more resolution and or animations.
