Read the history behind elevated freeways. They are in no way beautiful 99% of the time.
Sure they are...as long as you're in a car ;-) It's only when you drop below about 40MPH that they start looking worse. Does it have to be in book form? You may have better luck searching the Internet than looking in a book.
In terms of functioning urban cities they are like stabs. In the face.
I STILL DONT GET HOW CALIFORNIA IS HOME OF THE ELEVATED FREEWAY. HOW DOES THAT MAKE SENSE IN QUAKELAND, CA?
