Hi there! I've an interview coming up and am pretty thrilled, given that I have no related work experience and am a recent grad (B.Arch).
But, therein lies my dilemma -- how can I describe myself in a way that sounds beneficial and applicable to the job, without related work experience (only academic)?
I'm nervous about it!
I can talk about school, and my past jobs (waitress/secretary), and even my study abroad; but in the past I've noticed that some people really don't care unless you have related work experience. It's frustrating, since I've learned something useful at every job I've held, and obviously I gained related experience during school; but then again so did everyone else!
I'm sure I'll do fine, but I'd like some opinions/ advice -- even if just to relieve my nerves a little bit.
Thanks!
you should not be worried, because they already know that you have no experience in architecture from your resume. Just bring your reference letters at least 3 of them. Right now companies need people to draft their award winning ideas, and that's where you come in. They are scrambling to find the "technical guys" that they fired more than a year ago. Especially being new to the profession depending on the company size you will be payed accordingly.
