Post-Undergrad : Grad school or Work ?

Karimi

Hey guys,

I'll be done with my undergrad in May and I was wondering what your thoughts were on working for a year or two vs going straight to grad school ?

I say if you have the financial means than go to grad school. I graduated back in 09' and owed way too much money in student loans to continue to graduate school. I might do it one day.

Did the school you graduated from give you an accredited degree? Also, What part of the country are you in now?

Anyways, I would suggest to take a year off from academia to really research all of your grad school options, decide the top few schools you can get into along with what cities you are capable of living in, as well as developing that important portfolio of yours. Go back and re-work some of your projects. Give yourself time to create many different "working" layouts.

Make sure you stay in touch with a few profs from undergrad though as you will need them later for letters of recommendation.

I just graduated august 9th from undergrad, and just started classes this week for grad school. I gave myself little time and it was stressful. I wasn't able to put my last greatest project in my portfolio and was rushed to figure out where to apply while also working on my undergrad schoolwork at the same time.

good luck!
