Elmira Corning Airport Terminal

Re-imagining the passenger experience while providing travelers with cutting-edge airport amenities, the design for the new Elmira-Corning Regional Airport terminal creates an immersive experience. The terminal design aims to alleviate the often jarring experience of long security lines, windowless spaces, and time-driven anxiety inherent in the separation between the airside concourse (the side closest to the nearest aircraft) and landslide. At the new Elmira-Corning Regional Airport, airside and landside will be visually linked through a serene landscaped courtyard at the center of the airport.

As the courtyard cuts through the center of the airport, regional flora provide the backdrop and the defining image of the airport. The transparency of the courtyard ensures a unique and pleasurable experience for passengers both arriving and departing. The passenger’s experience is focused around this courtyard throughout the entire visit: Ticketing, Security Screening, Departure Lounges, and Baggage Pick-up.
