Google’s high visibility presence at the 2012 TEDTalks Convention took the form of The Garage, a temporary pavilion constructed of 5 re-purposed shipping containers. Interwoven with the planters and lighting of Long Beach California Convention Center’s courtyard, this structure was erected in 3 days, hosted event participants for 4 days and concluded its brief existence with a single day of disassembly. Video presentation areas, a cafe, interactive kiosks and a YouTube upload studio combine within the “garage” inspired structure. Yes, a hoop was hung over the garage door and Google branded basketballs were provided for all shot takers.
