Charlotte, NC
Inspired by its location in Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood, the design of the residential commission sought to embody the energy of community and material quality. This house utilizes contrast in color and texture to draw attention to construction design details and material appointment. The exterior boasts heavy, dark wood paneling with accented steel structure giving the house a dense but stable bearing. In opposition, the interior white walls and light concrete floors adorned with the natural light of the windows expose the spatial abundance. Both soft and hard areas utilize their color counterparts to provide detailing such as the wood siding nail pattern and interior’s areas of egress.
