A grass covered cloud with water droplets to reduce heat impact at the middle of scorching urban context of Abu Dhabi. It provides shelter from heat effect and accommodates diversified outdoor activities like exhibition, cultural events, movie screening or social gathering for the immediate community. Fresh contact of water, sound of water drop and visual of the cloud triggers the sensation of cooling. The design tries to capture human emotional desire at hot dry climatic condition.
Water drop from ceiling collected into surrounding interconnected water container for reuse. As hot wind pass through the water droplets it uses extra heat energy to create evaporation, thus reduces surrounding air temperature and increase humidity. Conventional desert cooling method is used for surface heat reduction. Water droplets are operable and can be synchronized with weather condition as required. Grass covered roof absorbs significant amount of solar heat by photosynthesis and provide cooling by transpiration. Along with sun protection it increases air quality. The internal void at roof is to maintain continuous airflow. Beneath the void one can seat laying feet into shallow water cascade or can enjoy a water walk.
