Temple Emanu-El

Temple Emanu-El – 1 East 65th Street, NY, NY

This limestone structure built in 1923-1929 houses a reform Jewish congregation founded in 1345. The temple, the adjacent community house and Beth-El chapel were designed by Robert D. Kohn, Charles Butler and Clarence S. Stein in an adaptation of Moorish-Romanesque style, symbolic of the mingling of eastern and western culture. The Property is located in a residential district on the north side of East 65th Street between Fifth and Madison Avenues.

SCOPE OF WORK:

  1. Replacement of the cracked masonry.
  2. Miscellaneous limestone repairs at the facades.
  3. Re-pointing of mortar joints.
  4. Cleaning of Limestone
  5. Replacement of windows at the Community House

 Restoration to be completed in summer of 2011.
