Mission Rock Building B

WORKac’s Building B reimages the future of the workplace by fostering a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. Across its eight stories, a series of cascading, carved-out gardens serve as vibrant workspaces and outdoor meeting rooms, inviting occupants to work surrounded by lush greenery. The transparency of the gardens allows natural light to filter through to the depth of the office spaces. As the gardens and terraces increase in elevation, the landscaping responds, changing from leafy vegetation to hardy wind-resistant succulents.

Mission Rock Building B’s LEED Gold Certified design prioritizes occupant well-being. Extensive solar analysis ensures ample natural light penetration throughout the workspace, further enhanced by energy-efficient windows. Additionally, the building houses a water recycling system with its own pump station, treating wastewater for irrigation and other non-drinking uses.

The project is part of a larger, collaborative effort to revitalize the neighborhood, spearheaded by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants. Building B’s neighbors, designed by Studio Gang, MVRDV, and Henning Larsen, echo the dynamic San Francisco topography with their ecologically conscious designs. The ground floor features an extended storefront with an animated glass curtain, its inviting folds offering comfortable seating for the public to relax and soak in the vibrant street life.
