Spanish River House

This project consists of single-family, one-story house located on the Intracoastal Waterway in Boca Raton, Florida.

The diagram of the house is very simple: It consists of a transparent glass box flanked by two solid bedroom wings. Water frames the glass, and a screen serves as a buffer to control the privacy, light and heat on the street side.

The entrance of the house is screened by a portico that creates privacy and provides shade to the glass. The space between screen and house creates a transition that prepares the visitor and marks the access. A bridge crosses this gap and is flanked by water on both sides. With time a green wall will grow on the screen. Different overlapping lines frame the access through a bridge

Simple volumes define the house and its outdoor spaces.

The exterior porch duplicates the interior living area.  The garden side of the house is designed as a series elements floating in the pool, creating a dialog with the waters of the adjacent Intracoastal.

The water of the pool comes into the house and creates, separation, privacy but also a visual relief.

In the central volume, the interior spaces are designed with transparency in mind with glass, and wood screens allowing the light to come through from East and West. The material palette of woods and stone contrasts with the simplicity of the white volumes, bringing warmth and texture to the spaces
