The project consists of the placement and base design for a 1920s allegoric figurative marble statue, Civic Virtue, by the American sculptor Frederick MacMonnies. The sculpture was relocated to Green-Wood after decades of neglect in Queens.

As designed by us and approved by the NYC Public Design Commission, the setting was simplified from the original elaborate fountain, bringing the marble figure closer to ground and making it easier to approach and read wholly in the round as a plastic work of art.

Ironically, it was none other than Anthony Weiner's complaints that helped move the statue: “The allegory grew out of a sexist notion”. As Jeeves might say:
Indeed, Mr. Weiner, indeed.
