The National 'Topzeilcentrum' Scheveningen is designed as an all-sided composition of volumes, which has a changing appearance from different angles.
With water on three sides, a great view over the sea and characteristic existing buildings to respond to, we have searched for a architectural language that conforms to the context.
The sloping roof lines and the terraced facades suffered the hefty volume.
The two separate buildings together form one composition. There where the buildings are 'cut loose' from each other, the entrance zone for both buildings is located. A wide staircase from the Hellingweg connects the whole to the public area.
The entrance is emphasized by a large open and protruding awning.
The program of the buildings is multifunctional. The two volumes house the National Top Sailing Center as well as offices, sheds and industrial space for the adjacent shipping company van der Zwan.
Another part of the building is leased to catamaran manufacturer NACRA Europe.
The boathouse is located on the ground floor.
