For the new The Hague Beach Stadium in Scheveningen, Architectenbureau Filip Mens has designed a sports pavilion. The building includes a fitness, yoga studio and a clubhouse annex café. The demountable building will remain in use for at least four years.
In the autumn the pavilion will be interrupted every time, to be built up again in the next beach sports season. The demountable construction, which can usually be seen on the façade, is masked by a second skin of wooden slats. The wooden facade gives the pavilion a warm atmosphere and ensures a clear appearance between open and closed.
The clubhouse is located on the ground floor, as well as a kitchen, toilets and a small fitness room. Upstairs are a roof terrace and some rooms that can be rented out. In addition to the pavilion, a permanent Beach Sportpark, which was awarded by the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport with a sports innovation award, is part of the renewed Beach Stadium, where twelve beach and outdoor sports can be practiced by amateurs and professionals. The Hague Beach Stadium has become a meeting place for clubs and people who come to play all kinds off sports on the beach. You train literally between world class (Olympic) players.
