Dobbs Ferry, NY
The Tribeca townhouse was converted from a warehouse building originally built in 1910. The family wanted their home to blend with the historic architecture of their neighborhood and to reflect their international ties, capturing the classic aesthetics and modern sensibilities of New York City and London with a sophisticated inspiration. The homeowners love to entertain guests and spend time with their large extended family. A clear distinction is made between formal areas and the family’s private quarters, though perfectly blended in the tradition of grand Manhattan townhomes.
The home has seven floors. The family room, wine cellar, gym and staff’s quarters comprise the subterranean level. On the ground level, the grand entrance and foyer make for an elegant entry sequence into the formal area of the home. Here guests mingle over cocktails before sitting to dinner. At the rear of the ground floor is a large family-style kitchen with striking marble banquette, fireplace sitting area and a small patio. It operates as the main family gathering area where the couple can cook together and the whole family can relax.
