Rivers & Christian was started to provide architectural services to the aviation industry. We are a second generation architectural firm that blends the enthusiasm of a young business with the wisdom gained through experience of over forty years of continuous practice.
We have designed and managed a diverse range of projects from baggage claims, cargo buildings, hangars, and airline clubs to entire terminals. Although noted for our aviation projects our experienced and creative staff allow us to provide, concession, retail design, interior design, space planning and graphic design services.
Our design approach does not start with a preconceived aesthetic or style, but grows from an understanding of the client, the program, the place, and the budget for each project. We start with the question,
“What can we create with our client, which will enhance the user’s experience and the built environment?”
From this question the design evolves from a rigorous investigation into the details of the program, the site, and the budget. Which allows us to understand the opportunities and three-dimensional context of the project place. This leads to the creative part, the identification and use of project and site elements that will allow it to have a unique character, appropriate to its site.
We hold ourselves to a high standard, that our architectural solutions must not only function well but must possess a three-dimensional human scale. This understanding of human scale allows the user to feel grounded and at ease with their surroundings.
