Misreads of the Mundane (Thesis Project M.Arch)

This thesis investigates architectural form finding from mundane objects. Sourcing from non-architectural objects we derived new formal qualities
and aesthetics that could be leveraged for use in innovative architecture. Early formal studies derived architectural form from 3D scans
of a crinkled paper cup using photogrammetry. These were scanned and contoured to derive a series of intricate 3D fragments that stack
and pile to produce the overall building massing. The construction of the massing from these fragments created open spaces between the
volumes. Simulating a natural landscape on the underside of the volumes creates the experience of being under a floating mountain that
contrasts its urban context and gives a privileged view to the occupants.
